FAQ

1. Why is a new fraternity house being built?

Phi Chapter has not had a chapter house since the original property at 407 W. Colorado was lost
decades ago. In recent years, we've struggled to attract and retain members in Southeastern’s Greek
housing due to the lack of a permanent, dedicated space. The new house will re-establish our presence
and give future generations of brothers a true home.

2. Where will the new house be located?

The new house will be located at 1504 North Oak Street, directly across from Southeastern Louisiana University’s campus. This prime location places us back at the heart of student life and fraternity activity.

3. What will the new house include?

The new facility will include residential rooms, study areas, a large common room, kitchen, meeting spaces, and display areas for our chapter’s rich history. It will serve as both a home for active brothers and a gathering place for alumni and guests.

4. What is the fundraising goal?

Our immediate goal is to raise $350,000 by the end of 2025 to cover the down payment to secure
financing for construction. Beyond that, we aim to raise an additional $500,000 to fund the entire
construction costs, furnishings, and necessary pre-opening expenses.

5. How can I donate?

You can donate online by filling out a donor card and emailing it to SigTau.PAA@gmail.com or contact a
fundraising committee member directly. The program will make accommodations for almost any type of
donations through the Phi Alumni Association.

6. Are donations tax-deductible?

Donations made directly to the Phi Alumni Association (a 501(c)(7)) are not tax-deductible but are
crucial to meeting our down payment goal. However, tax-deductible contributions can be made through
our partners at the Sig Tau National Foundation-Phi Library Fund, and the Phi Alumni Society. Donate to as
many as you wish.

7. Are there naming opportunities for donors?

Yes. Donors who contribute $50,000 or more are eligible for special naming opportunities, including
rooms and key spaces within the new house.

8. Can I make a multi-year pledge?

Yes! Multi-year pledges are welcome and appreciated. However, it’s important to note that we must
secure the full $350,000 down payment by the end of 2025, so early contributions are especially
impactful.

9. What is the timeline for construction?

Once the down payment goal is met, we will move forward with financing and finalizing construction
plans and timelines. Regular updates will be shared with donors and alumni throughout the process.

11. HOW CAN I HELP BEYOND DONATING?

You can help by reaching out to fellow alumni and encouraging them to support the campaign. Sharing
their contact information with us will also help broaden our outreach. Please email us at
SigTau.PAA@gmail.com to get involved or share contacts.

11. What about the old house, will anything be preserved?

While the original house no longer exists, we were able to recover several important items following
the fire, including composites, the 50th Anniversary etched glass, and the crested grave marker. These
treasured pieces will be proudly displayed in the new home.

12. Who is managing the funds and project oversight?

The Phi Alumni Association Housing Committee is responsible for overseeing the campaign,
managing funds, and coordinating all planning and construction efforts.
